Claude for Financial Advisors: 11 wealth-tech connectors, 8 advisor skills, and the compliance questions to ask first

In brief

On September 14, 2026 Anthropic released Claude for Financial Advisors: connectors for Addepar, Schwab, Orion, Wealthbox, Black Diamond, and six more, plus eight skills covering meeting prep, post-meeting notes, rebalance reviews, estate and tax briefs, and a Marketing Rule screen. Here is what each piece does, why Anthropic points RIAs to Enterprise, and how a firm should pilot it.

A financial advisor's week is split between client conversations and the preparation and paperwork around them: pulling holdings before a review, writing up meeting notes for the CRM, drafting a rebalance rationale, checking a marketing piece against SEC rules. Most of that second category is gathering and drafting from systems the firm already has.

On September 14, 2026 Anthropic released Claude for Financial Advisors, a set of connectors and workflow skills aimed at exactly that preparation work at registered investment advisers (RIAs) and advisory firms. It follows the finance agent templates Anthropic released for institutional finance, but targets wealth management.

The connectors

Eleven new connectors to the systems advisors work in:

Category Connectors
Portfolio and performance Addepar, Orion, SS&C Black Diamond, Envestnet
Custody and asset managers Charles Schwab, Vanguard, BlackRock
Alternatives iCapital
CRM and meeting notes Wealthbox, Zocks
Estate planning Wealth.com

They work alongside connectors that already existed: Microsoft 365, Salesforce, DocuSign, Box, FactSet, S&P Global, and Morningstar.

The eight skills

A skill is a saved, repeatable workflow Claude follows. The eight:

  1. Pre-meeting prep — holdings, recent activity, open items, and notes from the last meeting in one brief.
  2. Post-meeting notes and follow-up — structured notes for the CRM plus a follow-up draft.
  3. Portfolio rebalance review — drift against target, with a written rationale for the advisor to review.
  4. Estate and tax brief — a summary of the relevant documents and planning considerations.
  5. Alternative investments brief — a summary of an alternatives position or offering.
  6. Prospect intake — organizes what a prospect has shared into a starting profile.
  7. Advisor onboarding — gets a new advisor oriented on the firm's tools and processes.
  8. Compliance and AI policy — a self-guided workflow to document how the firm uses AI, plus Marketing Rule screening that flags possible SEC issues in marketing content.

Every skill produces summaries and drafts for an advisor to review. Investment recommendations, client communications, and compliance determinations stay with people.

Why Anthropic points RIAs to Enterprise

The product runs on any paid plan, but Anthropic recommends Claude Enterprise for registered investment advisers because of audit logs. Advisers have books-and-records obligations, and a firm needs to show what work was done, by whom, and when. Enterprise audit logs and the Compliance API are how you retain and export that activity.

Firms that request licenses before the end of September 2026 get one-time usage credits.

Questions a firm's CCO should answer before a pilot

What counts as a record? If Claude drafts a client email the advisor edits and sends, is the draft retained? Decide your retention position on drafts, prompts, and outputs, and confirm your logging captures it.

Who reviews Marketing Rule flags? The screen flags issues. A person still makes the call. Name that person and route flagged content to them, or the screen becomes a checkbox.

What client data goes into which connector? Connectors inherit each user's existing permissions in the source system. Audit those permissions first; overly broad access in Orion or Addepar becomes overly broad access in Claude.

What does your written AI policy say? The compliance skill helps you document AI use. If you do not have a policy yet, our usage policy guide is a practical starting point.

A pilot that will tell you something

  • Two or three advisors, one operations person, and compliance in the loop from day one.
  • Two skills only: pre-meeting prep and post-meeting notes. They are the highest-frequency tasks and the easiest to judge.
  • Measure time: minutes spent preparing for a review meeting and minutes from meeting end to notes in Wealthbox or your CRM, before and after, over four weeks.
  • Review every output for the first two weeks, then sample.

If the two-skill pilot saves real time and compliance is comfortable with the records, expand to rebalance reviews and estate briefs. The general pattern for finance-team rollouts is in what AI looks like for a finance team.
